Introducing our Gardens

I’m going to show you some pictures today of our vegetable garden and my version of a fairie garden.  I always wanted a fairie garden!  This is my first attempt at having one.  First, I’ll show you my Texas Fairie Garden

This is Mr. Cowboy Rain Guage.  My husband and I bought him several years ago in Queen City, TX at the annual Cullen Baker Festival.  This is Mr. Cowboy when he was almost brand new.  This next picture was taken just the other day.  He is hanging out with Ms. Lovely Rose.  He needs a new neck handkerchief.

Next, are photos of the Texas Fairie Garden as a whole.

I have more photos I will share in another post.

Now on to the veggie garden.  This is our first year putting in what we call, a large garden.  We have 5 100-ft rows of peas and beans.  We have two rows of purple hull peas, one row of speckled butter beans, one row of pinto beans and one row of Kentucky Wonder green beans.  We have SEVERAL tomato plants, zucchini and yellow squash.  A few bell pepper plants, strawberry, cabbage and cantaloupe.  We have VERY sandy soil.  We will definitely be planting cover crops this fall to till under and build up the soil. Plus I am searching for someone local that has a few cows that I can obtain manure.

Oscar tilling up the soil !

This is a purple hull pea just sprouting out of the ground about 4 days or so after planting.

A photo from yesterday.  They are growing good !  If I can keep the dogs out of the garden.  Trixie, our 8 month old Border Collie mix, loves to walk aroumd in the soft dirt of the garden.  Gah, she doesn’t understand why she can’t play out there.  Big smile.

Trixie with Miss Betty, our not quite so miniature Dachshund.  She is a sweetheart.  And last, but not least, our Pomeranian mix, Peanut Butter.  Can you believe that he was dumped out on the roadside of a country dirt road?  Luckily one of our sons found him and brought him home.

 Isn’t he handsome (and adorable)?

That’s it for today.  I am off to the post office to officially send our IRS returns in, certified mail of course, and mail my Avon VIP customers some samples and goodies.  I love to pamper my Avon customers.

If you enjoyed this post, just say Heck Yeah :))
